VENTURA – JUDGE GILBERT A. ROMERO RECEIVES PUBLIC SAFETY AWARD

Ventura Superior Court Judge Gilbert A. Romero has been selected as one of the recipients of the Oxnard Knights of Columbus Public Safety Award for 2017. The award was presented at the group’s Public Safety Night held on April 10 th at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Council 750, in Oxnard.

Each year, the Oxnard Knights of Columbus recognize and honor approximately thirteen men and women from law enforcement, the military, fire protection, and the judiciary for their service to our community and country.

Judge Romero was appointed to the bench by Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr., on November 29, 2012. He has been a judge for four years. During that time, he has presided over a variety of assignments in the criminal division.

Prior to his appointment, Judge Romero had been a senior deputy district attorney with the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office from 1999 to 2007. He began his legal career in 1998 as a law clerk for the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.

Judge Romero is a graduate of California State University, Northridge, and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. He is currently assigned to Courtroom 25, hearing criminal jury trials.
