Who We Are

Legal Professionals Incorporated (LPI) has been a cornerstone of California’s legal community for over 90 years — championing education, professional excellence, and community among the people who keep law offices running.

Our Story

It started with a simple idea: bring legal secretaries together to share knowledge about the preparation and filing of legal documents. That idea, sparked in 1929, quickly took root across California. By 1934, local groups had formed statewide, and in 1940, the organization was formally incorporated as Legal Secretaries Incorporated (LSI®) — a nonprofit mutual benefit corporation dedicated to elevating the profession.

In 2020, recognizing the evolving landscape of the legal workforce, we updated our name to Legal Professionals Incorporated (LPI) — a reflection of our expanded mission to serve every member of the legal support team, from paralegals and legal secretaries to administrative staff and attorneys.
