SAN DIEGO – CLOSURE OF JUVENILE DEPARTMENTS/TRANSFER OF OPERATIONS

Pursuant to Government Code § 68106 and Rule 10.620 of the California Rules of Court, the Superior Court of California, County of San Diego, is providing over 60 days’ notice of changes being made in the Juvenile Court Division.

The following juvenile dependency courtrooms will be closed, effective close of business on September 29, 2017:

• Dept. 4 of the Central Division, located at 220 W. Broadway, San Diego, CA 92101
(currently hearing Juvenile Dependency matters)

• Dept. 11 of the South County Division, located at 500 3rd Avenue, Chula Vista, CA
91910 (currently hearing Juvenile Dependency matters)

All cases currently assigned to these two departments will be re-assigned to other departments at Juvenile Court, located at 2851 Meadow Lark Drive, San Diego, CA 92123 (“Meadow Lark Drive”); the East County Division, located at 250 East Main Street, El Cajon, CA 92020; or the North County Division, located at 325 South Melrose Dr., Vista, CA 92081, effective October 2, 2017.

In addition, Department D-6 at Meadow Lark Drive will not hear Juvenile Delinquency cases beginning October 2, 2017. Juvenile Delinquency cases currently assigned to Department D-6 will be re-assigned to other departments at Meadow Lark Drive.

Also as of close of business on September 29, 2017, the Juvenile Business Offices located on the second floor at 220 W. Broadway in San Diego (2nd Floor Room, 2005) and on the third floor at 500 3rd Avenue in Chula Vista will be closed. Beginning October 2, 2017, juvenile case filings previously made at those locations must instead be made at the court location to which they are re-assigned.

These actions are due to budget cuts and restrictions in the 2017/2018 fiscal year.
