CALIFORNIA COURT OF APPEAL – SIXTH APPELLATE DISTRICT – JUSTICE ALLISON DANNER CONFIRMED AS THE SEVENTH JUSTICE ON THE SIXTH DISTRICT COURT OF APPEAL

The California Court of Appeal, Sixth Appellate District welcomes its newest justice, The Honorable Allison M. Danner.

Justice Danner was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown on June 1, and confirmed by the Commission on Judicial Appointments on July 26.

Prior to her appointment, Justice Danner served for six years as a judge at the Santa Clara County Superior Court. Previously she served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Northern District of California, as an attorney-adviser in the Office of Legal Counsel at the U.S. Department of Justice, and as a professor at Vanderbilt Law School. She has also taught at Harvard, UCLA, and Stanford law schools.

She served as a law clerk for the Honorable John Paul Stevens at the U.S. Supreme Court, and for the Honorable John T. Noonan, Jr. at the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit.

Justice Danner earned a Juris Doctor degree from Stanford Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Williams College. She fills the vacancy created by the elevation of Justice Mary J. Greenwood to Presiding Justice.
