On February 27, I had the honor of joining Sacramento Legal Professionals Association (Sacramento LPA) at American River College’s open house for their legal studies program — soon to be renamed the American River Paralegal Studies Program this fall. As the only ABA-approved paralegal studies program at the community college level in Northern California outside of the Bay Area, it’s a program worth knowing about!
The room was full of energy, with about 50 students eager to learn and connect. Dawn Forgeur, CCLS, President of Sacramento LPA, Marci Frazier, Past President of Sacramento LPA, and I had a wonderful time sharing what LPI and Sacramento LPA are all about. Students had great questions — résumé support and internship resources were top of mind, and our scholarship program generated a lot of buzz.
It was a fantastic reminder of why community outreach matters, and we’re grateful to Department Chair Kate Chang for the invitation. We look forward to continuing to build our relationship with American River College and supporting the next generation of legal professionals!
