Judge Dolly M. Gee Succeeds Judge Philip S. Gutierrez as Chief Judge of the Central District of California

Effective March 30, 2024, the Honorable Philip S. Gutierrez, having served as Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Central District of California since June 26, 2020, has ended his tenure as Chief Judge.  Judge Gutierrez resumes service as an active District Judge in the Court’s Western Division in Los Angeles.  The Honorable Dolly M. Gee succeeds Judge Gutierrez as Chief Judge of the Central District.

Proposed Local Rule Revision Regarding Remote Public Access to Court Proceedings

The Judges of the United States District Court, Northern District of California, have approved proposed substantive modifications to the Civil Local Rules (L.R.s) listed below.  See Summary of Proposed Revisions and Invitation for Public Comment.  According to Civil L.R. 83-2(b), public comments on the proposed modifications may be submitted to media@cand.uscourts.gov by Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. PDT.
