SONOMA – COURT HIRES NEW COURT COMMISSIONER

Gary Nadler, the Presiding Judge of the Sonoma Superior Court, announced the appointment of Mark A. Urioste as the newest court Commissioner. Urioste fills the seat vacated by Judge Jennifer Dollard, who was appointed as a judge for the Superior Court. Judge Nadler stated, “Mark Urioste is a highly respected attorney who was praised by the judicial officers in whose court he practiced. He exhibits the traits of honesty, legal knowledge, and positive work ethic which will support an exemplary career as a bench officer.

The Sonoma County bench looks forward to working with him, and believes that he will be an asset to the public and legal community in general. He was most deserving of the appointment.”

Unlike the appointment or election of judges, commissioners are selected by the Sonoma County Superior Court judges following a rigorous process of evaluation. Mr. Urioste has been employed at the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office from 2006 through the present as a Deputy District Attorney. He has experience in the prosecution of gang cases, and has prosecuted misdemeanor and other felony matters. He has been an attorney since 2002. He received his Juris Doctor degree in 2002 in the state of Oregon, and was admitted to the California bar in 2006.

Mr. Urioste is married to Heidi Bernheim Urioste. They have two children, ages five and seven. Mr. Urioste has been involved in community activities, focusing on youth education; including gang resistance education and gun violence prevention training to school children.
