Additional “Further Changes” to take place in Los Angeles County Superior Courts

There are additional changes which are taking place within the Los Angeles County Superior Court system (some of this information overlaps with the previous post, but better safe than sorry…)

ADR Department To Close:

Commencing on the 11th of March, 2013, the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) stopped accepting referrals to the Party Select and Random elect Panels and for arbitration, mediations, neutral evaluations and voluntary settlement conferences from civil, family and probate courtrooms. Between April 1 and April 30, 2013, ADR will close its offices in the following courthouses: Antelope Valley, Beverly Hills, Compton, El Monte, Inglewood, Long Beach, Norwalk & San Pedro. It will also stop providing mediators for any Civil Harassment, Small Claims and Unlawful Detainer calendars.

Between May 1 and May 30, 2013, ADR will close its offices located in the following courthouses: Chatsworth, Glendale, Pasadena, Pomona, Santa Monica, Torrance and Van Nuys. On May 1, 2013, ADR will discontinue the Daily Family Law Settlement Conference Programs (including CPA and Spanish-speaking programs) at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse.

Probate Cases to be Filed in Central or North Districts:

Effective April 8, 2013, All probate cases will be filed in the central or North Districts. There will be no transfer of existing probate cases from the North District.

Effective June 10, 2013, all other districts with probate cases pending in district courthouses will be transferred to Department 29 in the Central District. Please (click here) for further information.

Northeast District General Civil (Non-Personal Injury) Cases to be Filed in North Central

New Filings:
Effective April 8, 2013, all filings for general jurisdiction civil, non-personal injury cases for the Northeast District of the Los Angeles Superior Court must be filed in the North Central District. As of that date, the Northeast District shall no longer accept general jurisdiction civil, non-personal injury filings or documents.

Pending Cases:
All pending civil, non-personal injury cases with a calendar date on or after April 8, 2013 and notices for the Pasadena Courthouse shall be re-calendared for hearing at either the Glendale Courthouse or the Burbank Courthouse. As of April 8, 2013, the Northeast District shall no longer accept general jurisdiction civil, non-personal injury filings or documents. Please (click here) for further information.

New General Civil, Non-Personal Injury Cases in the South District to be Filed at Long Beach Courthouse

New Filings:
Effective April 15, 2013, all new general jurisdiction civil, non-personal injury cases in the South District of the LASC must be filed only at the Long Beach Courthouse.

Pending Cases:
Effective April 15, 2013, all pending general jurisdiction civil, non-personal injury cases with a calendar date noticed for the San Pedro Courthouse are to be transferred to the Long Beach Superior Courthouse. The San Pedro Courthouse shall no longer accept general jurisdiction civil, non-personal injury filings or documents. Please click on the attachment for further details.
