Rule 3. Reporter’s Transcripts in Felony Appeals – Exception to California Code of Civil Procedure section 271(a)

  1. Effective February 13, 2018, except as provided in subsection (b) below, counsel for a defendant in a felony appeal shall be deemed to have requested that his or her copy of the reporter’s transcript be delivered in paper form pursuant to Code of Civil Procedure section 271(a)(1).
  2. Notwithstanding the exception set forth in subsection (a) above, defendant’s counsel, or, if the defendant is not yet represented by appellate counsel, the district appellate project, may request that his or her copy of the reporter’s transcript be delivered in electronic form as provided in California Code of Civil Procedure section 271(a) by serving the lead court reporter and the superior court with a written request within 15 days after the notice of appeal is filed.
