SAN FRANCISCO – REDUCED NUMBER OF SMALL CLAIMS NIGHT COURT SESSIONS

Effective June 4, 2018, the Superior Court of California, County of San Francisco, will reduce Small Claims night court sessions. Pursuant to Government Code section 68106, the Court is providing a 60- day notice of the reduced night court sessions. The elimination of weekly sessions is necessary to manage operational costs while continuing to provide access to court services despite ongoing state funding challenges.

Small Claims night court sessions will be held at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on the first Monday of each month, unless the first Monday falls on a court holiday. If a Monday falls on a court holiday, the night court session will be held on the following Monday.

The Court will continue to provide a Small Claims night calendar in accordance with Civil Code of Procedure 116.250. The schedule change will reduce weekly Monday night sessions to one Monday night per month.

The Court invites public comment on its plan to reduce Small Claims night court sessions by emailing sfcourtbudget@sftc.org. The deadline to submit comments is 5 p.m. on June 1, 2018.
