PLACER – PRESIDING JUDGE AND ASSISTANT PRESIDING JUDGE ELECTION

The Judges of the Superior Court of Placer County unanimously voted on, September 27, 2017, to re-elect the Honorable Alan V. Pineschi as Presiding Judge and to elect the Honorable Eugene S. Gini, Jr. as Assistant Presiding Judge. The Presiding Judge and Assistant Presiding Judge serve a two-year term, to commence on January 1, 2018.

In addition to the duties as a sitting Judge of the Superior Court, the Presiding Judge is responsible for carrying out the responsibilities outlined in California Rules of Court, rule 10.603. These include the responsibility, with the assistance of the Assistant Presiding Judge and the Court Executive Officer, for leading the court in a manner that promotes access to justice, makes efficient use of scarce funding, and ensures a forum for expeditious resolution of cases before the court.

Judge Pineschi has served as a member of the Bench in Placer County since 1986, serving as a Justice Court, Municipal Court, and ultimately a Superior Court Judge. Judge Pineschi previously served as Presiding Judge from 2002-2004 and has been the court’s Presiding Judge since 2009.

“I am honored to have been elected by my colleagues once again as the Presiding Judge of our court,” stated Judge Pineschi.

Judge Eugene S. Gini, Jr. was appointed as judge of the Superior Court in 2002 and has served as the Supervising Family Law Judge since 2011. He will replace outgoing Assistant Presiding Judge Charles D. Wachob. Judge Wachob, who was appointed to the Superior Court bench in 2005, has served as the court’s Assistant Presiding Judge since 2009. Judge Wachob will continue to serve as the court’s Civil Supervising Judge.

Judge Gini added, “I appreciate the trust and confidence of my colleagues and look forward to working with Presiding Judge Alan Pineschi in the court’s ongoing efforts to provide access to justice for our citizens. I want to express great thanks to Judge Charles Wachob for his leadership in the judicial branch, and his commitment to the Placer County Superior Court and the community we serve.”
